Land Based Casino Guide for First Timers

If you’ve only played at GoldenPalace and you’ve never been to a land based casino before due to whatever reasons and you’re planning on going to one in the near future, but you’re lost as to what to expect then read my guide. I remember the first time I walked into a casino and it was one of the most exciting feelings I have had. The lights were all flashing and the sounds of the slot machines and people chattering echoed through my ears. It was a little overwhelming to be in the casino the first time as I didn’t know what to expect, but it was tons of fun once I calmed down.

The first thing you probably want to do when you go to the casino is join the comps program which only takes a few minutes. Most casinos will have a small area where you can go to in order to get your rewards card and you want to make sure that you get it. Even if you only plan on playing for the day you never know when you’ll be back and as your comp points go up you’ll start getting VIP treatment from the casino.

After you have your comps card you can start looking for some games to play. Typically the casinos have the slot machines near all the entrances/exits of the casino and then the table games are in the middle of the casino. Most casinos will have a poker room typically which is away from the rest of the games since poker players need to concentrate. If you know what games you want to play then you can find them in the casino and sit down to play, but if you’re unsure what to play I have a few suggestions for you.

Blackjack is always a good game to start with because the odds are fairly good for winning and you can’t make yourself lose to often except for hitting when you shouldn’t. The blackjack tables are usually abundant compared to the rest of the games as well so you’ll find lower stakes and you shouldn’t need to wait for a seat. After playing blackjack for a bit I would suggest playing craps and roulette next as these games need to be tried out the first time you play in a land based casino. Craps is a great game where the players work together to make money off of the house so everyone is always friendly and excited. You’ll get to roll the dice once around the table and rolling the dice in craps is more fun then anything else in the casino.

When you’re looking to take a break in between games most casinos will have lots of restaurants away from the gaming. If you’re thirsty while playing in a casino the drinks are free as long as they aren’t drinks with alcohol, but you should tip the waitress that brings you the drink. The casino is fun the first time you go whether you win or lose because of the excitement around you. It might suck the next day if you lost, but hopefully you’ll have some beginner’s luck and leave a winner.
